Hair Tips & How To's

How to achieve the Classy Ponytail

There is always those days when we just don't want to mess with on hair at all and it's just being stubborn. We get frustrated on most of these days and still want to look fashionable, but to tired to really do much. Let me introduce you to today's ponytail.

Ponytails are just wonderful aren't they. Takes are hair up off are necks and it's fast and easy, but there is a way of doing it with style. This way will make you look classy and it's different from your average workout ponytail.
First thing first is to tease your hair at your crown to get a little poof. You don't need to do it a lot and don't make it to solid. You can either have a hair part or use your fingers to sweep back your front. The next step is all with your hands, but your look depends all on how you grab your hair. When gathering up your hair for a ponytail always grab it from the sides towards the back; then while holding your hair in one hand take your other and gather up the hair from the bottom. You can also use a brush, but leave the top alone. The brush is for the bottom and low sides of your ponytail. When deciding on how high go for about 3 to 4 inches off your neck. Too high can yell "recess time with your skip-it" and too low just tickles your neck and is annoying. The low center part of the back of your head is classy and can give you a little flirt with it.
When securing it don't twist your elastic to tight. It should just be about two times or so. Now , here is the trick to ponytails is how you tighten it. When pulling pull it horizontal then last vertical. This way you get that cute, sassy poof in your ponytail.  You can pull out some fun pieces too around your face or your bangs. For extra class try tying a ribbon around your elastic. Remember practice makes perfect with anything, especially hair.

Helpful Tricks to Braiding

One look that has been back and keeps on growing is braiding. This look I love and always love to do when I am wanting to change up my hair style. There are so many different ways of braiding and how to wear them.

One of my favorite ways is to braid my bangs back when my hair is day old from washing. Braiding can be a little tricky at first, but it is true that practice makes perfect. Keep on practicing and it will become easier. Braids I feel are a pretty, earthy, casual style to have. Some secrets to braiding on their look is if you want a looser or the look of a thicker braid just pull it gently. What I mean by this is once you have your braid pull gently with fingers on both side of braid pulling at the same time on each loop. Pull as much as you want, this will give you the appearance of a thicker and bigger braid.

Another trick I do for whether your braiding your bangs back or all of your hair over whatever kind of braid you have I do this. Once your done braiding and you don't want your braid to fall out just tease it a bit. Take your comb and at the end of your braid push the hair up to the end of the braid, do this a couple of times. I guarantee that it will stay in if you tease it enough. I always do this and I don't have to worry about bobby pins or hair ties. If your braiding all of your hair over tease it then you can put a cut hair accessory at the end of it. Or sometimes what I do is I tease to hold the braid then tie it or pin it where I want to it to go then I will comb out the teasing. It's something that makes your life a little easier when doing your hair.

Have fun with the creative world of braiding, and be adventurous with different styles.

How to Get a Extra Boost in your Hair

If you have fine hair that has a hard time to get it to have body in it. I have found a product that I just love, and you must try if your wanting that extra volume in your hair.

Pureology has had a new "series" of products out called Color Stylist. The Silk Bodifier really helps with putting extra body in your hair. It's like a mouse but it's not the real sticky feeling like most of them are. Just put it in when your hair is wet. Depending how much hair you have is how much you use, but don't use to much. For myself I probably use the size of a plum or so. When applying start at your roots then run it through to your ends. I love the smell and when you blow dry, dry your roots first.

You will love it, I have been using it for just over a week now and I am addicted this new product. You can come in and get it at Me Salon, tell them that you heard it from me.

How to Help Your Hair from Getting Tangled

It gets so frustrating when you get out of the shower and have to kill your arms by brushing your hair. It's tiring, and gets tangled so easily. If you are having this problem ask yourself "when was the last time I had a haircut?"

When you keep your hair trimmed up every seven weeks you can solve that tangled problem. One of the problems can be that you have split ends. Those split ends get hooked on each other any time they get thrown around each other. Having fresh ends doesn't only make you feel better and make your hair style easier; it also helps you from getting headaches from brushing your hair.

Another thing is do is to make sure your using a leave-in conditioner or a good conditioner when your washing your hair. Pureology's Hydrate Conditioner is great for tangling dried out hair. Leave it on for a few mintues then rinse it out. Apply to your ends and work up with it. You can see it under my posts on March's Products.

        How to Have Wavy Hair

One of this springs hot new looks is the natural look. The look where it looks like you really didn't do much to get ready. I personally love this look and it is very beautiful. A natural look you can do is to put some simple waves in your hair. You can do this for both short or long hair; it looks cute for both.

First start with whatever size of curling iron you would like. Second, section your hair off by starting underneath and then while you finish that section take out more til done. Your sections a be big. Just if you have thick hair make sure when your curling your section that it isn't to big that the heat can't get to all of the hair.

One thing about curling hair is that you should not start curling at the bottom. Instead take your section and start in the middle of the section and curl up. Now, once you curl up slide your curling iron down so your then you will be at the bottom of the hair. When you take out don't pull! Be gentle and slowly take the iron out, then leave it. Once you have come to the top of your head to the sides. Curl these pieces outward, so the curl is not going into your face. This is more attractive and opens up your face.

When your done curling take a aerosol hair spray arms length away and spray your curls. (If your hair has a hard time keeping a curl you can spray each section as you go along). Then to fully achieve the natural wave take either your fingers or a brush and go through your curls. Once done finish off with a spray and have fun!

One Way of How to Have Healthy Hair

We all want healthy gorgeous hair, but some of us don't know the things we shouldn't be doing. One thing that we shouldn't be doing is washing our hair everyday. Washing your hair everyday drys out your hair. How long you go without washing your hair shouldn't be longer than three days I would say. What happens and how our hair gets dirty is the oils that our scalp produces, and if you go to long without washing your scalp will develop an odor.

Now if you are a person who washes their hair everyday you'll get to the first day of not washing with oily hair. This is because you have been drying out your hair; your scalp oils work over time trying to condition your hair.  Once you are in the routine of not washing everyday your scalp will clam down, and won't produce so much. Bodily oils are very normal. They are there to help our hair and condition. Some people do naturally produce more oil than others. These people like myself won't be able to go very long without washing. At least wash every other day, and with you notice your bang area being oily you can use some dry shampoo only on that area.

Your hair will be softer and more healthy by doing this. Also you will find out ways to do your hair differently  on the days that you don't wash it. I will post some of these ways to style with day old hair or so.

How to Change your Look without Leaving your Home

There are so many of us who would like to change our hairstyle, but we don't necessarily want a Cut and Color. A simple way for anybody to change their look is to change your hair part. You can have a new look for your next occasion or just to change it up for the day.

Short hair is so cute when you part it on the side, but to change it up try it on the other side.
For long hair you can try parting it down the middle or almost to the middle. That way if you feel like your face looks to elongated you can just have it slightly to the side.

Now you might be thinking how do I get my hair to corporate with changing my part; it never stays. When you want to part your hair differently you need to start with the blow dryer. Blow dry your hair with either it parted where you want it that day, or while your blow drying your hair don't have a definite part. Then when your hair is dry blow dry your part the opposite than where you want it, then flip it back over where you want it and hit the "Cool Shot" button on your blow dryer. The blowing the cold air on it at the end will get it to set and stay. Also if there is still a bit of a problem a little tease and hair spray can help too.

How to Grow your Hair Out Healthy

Here's a tip for you gals growing your hair out. Take your vitamins, your hair will be healthier and grow faster when you are nourishing it. It is so true that whatever you put into your body will show on the outside. What you eat and how much nutrients you get, will show in your hair. Eating the right things and taking the right vitamins will also help you with hair loss. Vitamin A, B, B12 and C are great for your hair. I would recommend just taking a multi-vitamin. All veggies are great like Carrots, Avocados, and Oranges.

Also don't forget that you still need a trim while your waiting for your hair to grow. The last thing you want is for your split ends to keep splitting. Come in every 7 to 8 weeks to get your hair trimmed and shaped up. Call and schedule with me, my contact info is at the bottom of this page.
