Shades of Color

Lately I have had people asking me about what hair color they should do. A lot of them are wanting a change from what they have had, and they just want to feel fresh and new. When it comes to hair color on highlights or just one color you want to do whats going to look the most flattering on you. Something that will compliment you.

What you want to think of when deciding on a new hair color is what will look good with your skin tone. Just because the dark chocolate brown hair color looks good on your friend doesn't mean that it will be the same for you. If you have red in your skin tone it's probably not a good idea to get the Nicole Kidman red in your hair. Instead what you could do is do a pretty brown with a red tone to it. That way the red isn't the dominant color.

A lot of it goes with how dark or fair your skin color is too. I can say from personal experience that someone with fair skin should not go platinum blond. I had platinum blond for a couple of years, and I wish my hair dresser would have told me that is washes me out. I have fair skin and with the blond it did nothing for my completion. It made me look even paler than I was. Once I got into Taylor Andrews and learned about skin tones I learned that I should stay at a medium blond; like a champagne color of blond. It has a little bit of what I like to call "mocha" color in it. It compliments my skin color and doesn't make me look fairer than I am. I have changed my hair color here and there, but I have never gone anymore than three shades darker than my natural which is a medium blond.

If your looking for a change you don't have to do drastic change. Stay with what flatters you and play around with different tones. What I mean by that is a brown with red in it or a softer look of a brown. A blond that doesn't have so much yellow in it and more of a gold. For reds play around with a deeper red or more of a copper. You can still have fun! You just need to find out who makes you "you" and embrace it!!

A Woman's Battling Quesion

Short hair verses long hair? This question runs through every woman's mind more than likely once or twice a year. There are pros and cons to every situation, but what it comes down too is what fits you and your personality.

Most women  come to this debate when the seasons change from cold to hot, or from hot to hotter. Do we want are hair off our necks or do we just want to rock out the pony tail most of the summer? Some things to think about when debating are just like that question. How do you like to wear your hair? If you like to curl your hair a lot you probably want your hair not too short so you still can. Or if you like more of a style to your look I would recommend a short style.

With a short style you do have more a style to your everyday look. I'm talking about any bob haircuts and shorter. With these looks you normally have to straighten and add your products everyday to have what you want. There are simpler short styles to have than others. Most of the time the shorter the easier they are to do; for my clients I like to just add some texture twist to their hair after blow drying and work to where they like it.

Now, with longer hair you have more room to try new looks all the time. I have figured out a year ago that I love my long hair. I personally love to change up my look from day to day. I don't like to always look the same everyday. I also love to curl my hair and to have the wave look. Long hair girls get to explore around with braiding and different ways to where their hair. I would recommend long hair if you are adventurous and like styling your hair. I have finally decided that I will most likely have longer hair always for these reasons.

Find out who you are and what your personality says about you. Then I promise you will have better hair days in the future.

Good for the Soul

My life has been crazy lately. I'm always running everywhere, and hardly ever home. I did make time for myself yesterday though, and took some advice off of my own blog. I am now a blond again and I love it!

It is so what I needed to feel refreshed and to have more of a "uff" in my life. I get excited to do my hair and see how the hair color looks with different styles. Oh, and I also got some longer bangs. I use to have straight across bangs three years ago and I have been growing them out since. It was nice to play around with a style where I didn't have to worry about bangs. But I do love the funness of having bangs again. I kept then longer so I can still pin them back if I want to. The shortest piece probably hits me at the tip of my nose.

I just wanted to tell you all of how much fun I have been having with my new hair. I did a settle change with my bangs and color. My hair color is the color melting where I have a light brown on top then melts down into a light golden blond. This goes to show you how a little change can be good for the soul.

Today's the Day

Change is always a good thing to do once in awhile in your life. It helps you feel renewed and your ready to take on the world. A simple change to do for your hair is adding bangs to your style.

A few years ago I got straight across bangs while I was attending Taylor Andrews. Back then I was way nervous to cut my long hair or change my color. So what I did is I decided to get bangs. I changed my whole look and I felt like a new person. The straight across bangs are very "in" right now and are a fun edgy look to have. They are way easy to style; just comb them down and blow dry them straight down with heat. Depending how your cowlicks are on your front hairline you could also use a round brush to blow dry them.

Some fun things I did while I had bangs, I went to Vegas to the North America Hairstyling Awards, I did my first photo shoot, and I graduated from Taylor Andrews. I also met Phillip Wilson a great hair artist and FHI educator.

Have a new experience with some fun, flirty bangs. Let today be your day of change.

The Fun of Being a Blond

Being a blond has it's advantages. I have been blond most of my life, and it is just recently that I am more of a brunette. I would say that blonds do have a lot of fun. One advantage of being a blond is that you don't have to worry about your hair color fading. Another one is that your hair will always shine. Blond hair reflects light, and because of this you won't absorb heat from the sun in the summer time. In the summer we all know that it gets hot and we're always trying to find a way to cool down. Have you ever thought of changing your hair color. Blonds don't absorb heat as much as darker hair color, so naturally, they will be cooler.

Having blond hair is fun to have in the summer time. When I was really blond I loved my highlights within my already blond hair. The sun in the this coming season will help with that. Something fun that I did when I had blond hair is I did a lot of traveling. I had platinum blond hair through high school and through hair school. During this time I went to Disneyland; Hollywood; Zions; and Vegas. While I was in Hollywood I would get told that I should have played Marylin Monroe at the Chinese Theater because of my hair.  I loved my hair and felt always in fashion with it. In hair school I got some heavy straight across bangs that immediately gave me more style, and it really showed off my different colors of blond in my hair. One thing I learned from being blond is you will always have an excuse for your not so thought out conversations ha ha. Now the problem is when I have these moments I don't have much reason. I guess I'll always be blond at heart both on moments in life and the fun I have throughout it.
