Elegance and Class
When it comes to make up it's always fun to switch it up a bit. Especially with the seasons you can play around with new and fun ideas for the season. This Fall it seems like the vampire fever is taking over everywhere. If your like me I'm a little sick of people having this obsession. It has lasted way to long, but I do like these fun colors for your next night out could be fun.
The color that everyone is talking about is Wine color. It is very rich and classy looking. A trend going on that InStyle Magazine says is having Wine lips. I do admit that it is bold and can scare some of you to try because of how dark it is, but I was thinking that you know what tis the season for lots of parties and get togethers. This time of the year there's usually parties to go to that you yourself will get more glammed up for than you do in the Summer. Why not glam up your lips as well, or if your nervous about your lips try your nail polish this color.
Another look that is fun for special occasions is the time less red lip. Not everyone can necessarily pull this off. I love this look and it does take practice to achieve the flawless lip. The trick for it is to use a lip liner that is the same color as your lipstick. Go around the edge of your lips without getting on the skin, but here's the trick don't stop with just a thin line of liner. In order to pull off these dark color lips and especially the red lips what you'll want to do is color in your lips with the liner. I recommend not your whole lip but you want to color them in a little so your outline is a nice thick line. Then rub your lips together and apply your lip stick. After that you might want to blot you lips with a tissue. Fold it in half and with just your lips put the folded tissue across your lips and quickly close and open your lips on the tissue. This of course is an old trick from way back, but it helps to make sure your lip color doesn't get on your pearly whites. I guarantee that this will make it a ton easier to accomplish your look, but like I said practice makes perfect.

Warming You Up
It's about time I post something about fashion on here, and with the weather today you'll want this is your wardrobe to keep you a little warmer. What I'm talking about is the famous leg warmers. When some people think of leg warmers their minds go right to the 80's. They are a bit different from back then, which some of you are already aware I am sure. They make a fashion statement all their own and proves to show that just something little can really add to your look.
Some of you who really know me know that I am obsessed with boots! Especially and mostly cowboy boots, but since it's been getting colder and days like today come my legs could use the extra warmth. You can wear them with any kind of boot or almost any shoe for that matter. Depending on the boot you wear them inside your boot and they will peak on the top of your boots. With shorter boots you can wear them over the top of them; the same goes with flats. If your wearing them on the outside bunch them up a little around the ankle area. The leg warmers I like are knit sweater-like ones. They have them out there in all different looks and colors. I have an off white cream color and gray. I would love a red pair, especially for Christmas coming they would be tons of fun. I was surprised on how much warmer they really keep my legs and are not just a fashion accessory. They are cozy and add to your boot look this season. Try them out! I love them and suggest you have fun with your fashion. I hope you all have a good weekend and stay warm.

The Fall Crop
I told you all I would keep you up to date on the trends for this Fall and what looks hot! Well this one is all about fun and can add perk to your style. I'm talking about the Pixie Cut.
There are many different styles on pixie cuts and when it comes down to it it all determines how you style it. Pixie cuts are fun like I said and a quick easy style in the mornings. The type of pixie that is hot right now is the crop cut. If you watch TV you have probably been seeing this coming out with the celebrities. One celebrity that everyone is looking at is Ginnifer Goodwin. She is one of the first actress's that really got noticed for her crop pixie. She's on the TV series Once Upon a Time with her cute look. What she does is has her hair short in the back and up around the ears, but it has a longer layer look for her cut that is textured with shears to give it the whispy look too. She keeps her fringe with a fun texture piecey look. I believe that you are wanting to go for this look the fringe makes the style.
Anne Hathaway also now has this crop look which is similar to what Ginnifer has is just more of her own style. Like I said the fringe can really make the look. Anne has a shorter fringe than Ginnifer with shorter layers on top. With this cut you can really make it your own by your style. It won't look the same on everyone. Your head shape has a lot to do with how pixies will look on you. Especially how the back of your head is shaped; also the texture of your hair. Do you have curly coarse hair, or fine straight hair? This will all determine how your hair will look and how it will function once short.
The style that these actresses Ginnifer and Anne are doing is playing with the texture that their own hair is on it's own and what their stylist did as well. If towel dried hair take a pomade and piece it through the top of your hair then blow dry in all directions. Then finish with a spray of hairspray and piece your fringe. For a edger look try some texure paste through your fringe and top layers to spike them up more. Add some perk to your style with one of Fall's new looks the crop pixie!

Going Simple and Beauitful
The new trends are out for the fall season and I really like this one I am going to share with you. When I first saw this I just fell in love with the warm color and the general idea of it. Just so you all know that ombre is still a big trend, but what you need to know that there are different types on ombre. I will show you later the some of the different types of it.
For today though I will share this trend. It is so simple, but gorgeous. This warm auburn is very flattering on most people. It is just one color that is simple and shows us that the trends are really going back into the more natural look. This type of color for your hair can be an easy up keep and just help you look flawless. The main look comes from your stylist though. By them seeing what your hair needs to get that beautiful shine and healthy auburn look. Your stylist can really help you with recommending the right products for you to get your hair looking its best. As well to make your color look the best on you.
I love how we are going towards natural look for hair trends and bringing out are own beauty. If you don't already know I am all about embracing your own individual beauty. I defiantly recommend on hair color, to stay reasonably close to your natural hair color. Instead of going drastic changes that can damage your hair.
I would be more than pleased to help you with your hair. You can always contact me. My contact info is at the bottom of my blog. More fall trends coming soon.

Satisfy your Needs
Oh Autumn is here and all of the beautiful colors that go along with it. Now that the temperature is going down and becoming cooler as we get closer and closer to October we don't have the harshness of the dry heat weighing on our hair. Especially here in Utah where it gets very dry in the summer months; you're hair might feel dry and just damaged. Or sometimes when you have bleached your hair for the summer it can make that damage worse.
One thing that your hair needs every now and again is to be refreshed. What I mean by refreshed, is adding some moisture back into it. Then your ends won't get so split either by adding in moisture. One way to do this is by getting a deep condition. If you come into the salon I can give you a deep condition to what your hair needs. Sometimes are hair needs to be well cleansed and rid of all the chlorine that you might have been in this summer. Chlorine can build be on your scalp and in your hair if you don't clean it with the right shampoo every now and then. The deep condition will make your hair feel better and more nourished. If you have damaged hair and it is really bad it is recommended that you do a deep condition once a week. Which after getting one by me, so we can see what your hair needs and get it off on a good start, you can purchase one of the conditioners we have at the salon.
Another thing that's good for your hair and feels amazing is having a scalp treatment. Having a scalp treatment is especially good for those of you who use a lot of product or who just use product everyday. Product can build up on your scalp and make it itch. This service is like the "ultimate" deep condition, which includes a scalp massage. Contact me to schedule a service and we can figure out what your hair needs. I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Time to Rewind
We all know, I hope, that we shouldn't be washing our hair every single day. If you have been reading my blog you hear me talk about this a few times. It's not good for your hair or scalp to be washing it every day, because what happens is you start messing with your natural oils your scalp produces.
Washing all the time confuses your oil glands and they will start to work more making your hair more oily. If you have been washing your hair everyday and have tried to switch to every other day or a couple of days you might have experienced your hair being oily. That's just because that's what your scalp is use to. It's use to over working itself, so after the you have done it a couple times you will be fine. Your glands will start to slow down and go to the normal rate.
There are still days, like your second day or third, when your hair part and/or bang area will become separated and a little oily. That's when this new product that I love comes in handy. It's a dry shampoo from the AG product line, it's name is Fast Forward. With dry shampoos you just spray them right where their needed, like for those areas we just talked about. Just be careful to not spray to much or too close. You simply just part your hair a few sections and spray a bit, then brush your hair and it will do it's magic.
What the magic is it absorbs oils from unwanted areas, so that way you don't have to full on wash your hair. It's quick and easy! You can get this product at Me Salon, tell them that you heard it from me. If any of you have questions for me don't be afraid to ask, then I can write a post on your question :)

Shades of Color
Lately I have had people asking me about what hair color they should do. A lot of them are wanting a change from what they have had, and they just want to feel fresh and new. When it comes to hair color on highlights or just one color you want to do whats going to look the most flattering on you. Something that will compliment you.
What you want to think of when deciding on a new hair color is what will look good with your skin tone. Just because the dark chocolate brown hair color looks good on your friend doesn't mean that it will be the same for you. If you have red in your skin tone it's probably not a good idea to get the Nicole Kidman red in your hair. Instead what you could do is do a pretty brown with a red tone to it. That way the red isn't the dominant color.
A lot of it goes with how dark or fair your skin color is too. I can say from personal experience that someone with fair skin should not go platinum blond. I had platinum blond for a couple of years, and I wish my hair dresser would have told me that is washes me out. I have fair skin and with the blond it did nothing for my completion. It made me look even paler than I was. Once I got into Taylor Andrews and learned about skin tones I learned that I should stay at a medium blond; like a champagne color of blond. It has a little bit of what I like to call "mocha" color in it. It compliments my skin color and doesn't make me look fairer than I am. I have changed my hair color here and there, but I have never gone anymore than three shades darker than my natural which is a medium blond.
If your looking for a change you don't have to do drastic change. Stay with what flatters you and play around with different tones. What I mean by that is a brown with red in it or a softer look of a brown. A blond that doesn't have so much yellow in it and more of a gold. For reds play around with a deeper red or more of a copper. You can still have fun! You just need to find out who makes you "you" and embrace it!!

Flawless Glow
We all see that beautiful glow some of our favorite stars have. We wonder where they get it and how when we're sure they have very busy lives. How do they not have dark circles under their eyes from running around all the time?
Some of it does have to do what they eat. Eating green leafy vegetables and drinking enough water can help with those dark circles, but it is also how they wear their make up. There are actually a lot of tricks to the trade that help you look flawless and glowing. The glowing look you want that is around your eyes all starts with your concealer. When picking out a concealer you want a shade or two lighter than your foundation is. I personally like the cream stick concealers. They are easy to apply where you want it and don't create a mess.
To start you will do this before you apply your foundation. Apply your concealer right underneath your eye, right where you get those dark circles, and to the corners of your eyes as well. This area where your applying should be about the size of a quarter. You can also apply a little bit to the tops of your cheek bones and the outer part of your eye a little for an quick face lift. Next use a face sponge or your fingers also work great to blend it in. When you apply your foundation be careful not to apply to much around these areas since their already covered. Just focus on blending it all in around the edges of where you applied it. Just dab with your fingers.
I hope you like this easy make up tip to help you look glowing to your next event. Have a happy Friday everyone :)

Sunscreen for your Hair
This summer has been a hot one so far, and dry. There are ways to keep your body healthy during the heat of the summer. By doing this it also keeps your skin and hair healthy as well. Because you are whatever you put into your body. I've talked about making sure your drinking enough water under my Liquid Smart post and the benefits, but have you thought of how to protect yourself in other ways?
Well one way to protect your hair from the suns harmful rays is using the right product. Pureology's Color Max does just that, it protects your hair from rays and saves your color for longer. All you do is spray it in after you have washed your hair before you brush it. It will actually make it easier to brush because it's a leave-in conditioner too. Another thing this product has a secret if you spray this on your hair part and on your hair line before you go out in the sun it will help it from burning. How cool is that?! So yes there is sunscreen for your hair believe it or not, and I love it!
While were on the topic of sunscreen please, oh please make sure your wearing sunscreen always. Whenever you are out in the sun you should spray it on, use a 50 or more. The intense heat that is happening for the last several years is because of our ozone layer on the earth is becoming weakened and having a whole in it. Meaning that the suns rays are able to come through more, so we need to be smart and cover up with sunscreen. I know we all like the tan look, but to tell you the truth it makes you age faster and your skin will over the years of it become looking like leather. Not to mention skin cancer, please be wise and a listen to your body. You want to protect it and stay healthy. A tan might look nice for this season, but your future self would have wished you were wiser.

Twisted Around
Different hairstyles are so fun to do. Especially for a little change when your tired of the same style you always wear. I know that I am always talking about change, but that's because it is so good for people to feel more alive! It makes you happier with yourself when you know that your not stuck in your "always" look. A fun thing to try for any girl is curly hair.
Take a day where you have time after your shower to mess around with your hair. Mess around with any natural curl you have or just by curling it yourself. Curly hair in every kind of way can be fun a cute on any length. You just need to know how to control your curls once your finished.
Now sometimes whether your using your natural curl or curled it yourself we get those frizzies or fly aways. There's a way to control them that I love to do, and this way will also give your curls more definition and shine. What I like to do is to take a little bit of an serum like Redken's Argan Oil or Pureology's Shine Max with a little of Pureology's Texture Twist and "cocktail" them together. I only use a drop of serum and a the size of your pinky nail for the twist. This is a hairstylist secret that we do to your hair, we "cocktail" products to get what we want. So with the oil/serum gives you shine and also helps with fly aways, but works best with Texture Twist. The Twist helps define those curls, and once you get a little of each product mix them together in your hands. I rub the product into my hands always so I don't get to much product in one place. It helps it go on where you want it.
Go try some "cocktailing" but be careful sometimes it always doesn't work with some products. Normally if the products are in the same family they will always work better. This cocktail is a simple one and I recommend to try this one and leave the others to your stylist. You can book an appointment with me for a style and I can do some on you and curls that will give you a fun look for the day. Try something new.

Highlighting Fun
Sometimes our look needs something different. You might like the way your hair looks and be very happy with it, but still feel like you need a change. I have felt this way before where you love your hair, but to tell the truth you are a bit bored with it. Well, a fun way to have a bit of change this summer is adding a little color to your life.
Adding a pop of color to your look could be just what you need. You also don't need to add to much wear it changes to much. One of my clients this last week came in to get her color done. We normally just keep her blond highlights she already has with her natural brown hair, but we decided that she needed a little change. We ended up adding a little bit of red violet highlights to her hair what is just what she needed. What it did is just gave her a overall different tone of color to her hair. It's very pretty and when the sun hits her hair you can see the red in her hair come out.
Red is the new hot color trend going around, and you can start off small like I did with my client. It gives you a little of fun in your life for this summer, and the summer sun will help show off your hot new color. So play around with something different this season and have fun.

Liquid Smart
Summer is here and I am so happy with all this warm weather. Most of you know already that our bodies change with the seasons. So, naturally we need to change our lifestyle to these seasons.
With the summer heat we want to make sure were drinking enough water, and not getting dehydrated on other drinks. One of the common problems with not drinking enough water is our skin takes a beating. We will have better skin that has that natural glow if we drink more water. Most of the time when we breakout we can help it out by giving our body more H2O. We can avoid them by doing so. I know that's it's hard, it's hard for me too! But we all need to have goals in our lives. It gives us something to strive for and to feel good about when we have accomplished them.
Have you ever struggled with dark circles under your eyes? And you fight every morning with concealer trying to get rid of them. Well the easiest way to fix those circles is by drinking more water and make sure your getting about seven hours of sleep each night. It's always good to use a little lighter color than your foundation under your eyes to help you look fresh, but adding more water to your everyday lifestyle can help with how much you have to wear. You can get your natural beauty coming out by just taking care of yourself. The way our body reacts has a lot to do with what were putting into it, and it can be helped by the simplest thing of drinking water. So next time you sit down to have a drink choose your friend H2O instead of the alternative.

Playful Spray
There's another product that I am going to brag up. I have been using it for the past couple of months, and I don't know what I would do without it. I have always loved using a little hairspray with every style I wear, and especially now that my hair is getting longer.
If you have problems with pesty fly aways or just wanting to hold somewhat of a style with it still being movable I suggest Pureology's Strengthening Control hairspray. It isn't one of those stiff hair sprays that can weigh your hair down. This hairspray will help manage your hair throughout the day with still having it move around and being playful.
Pureology's Strengthening spray has a heat protector in it and since it's Pureology it also protects your color. It protects it from those harmful sun rays that can harm your hair just as such as your skin. One of my favorite ways to use this product is when I curl my hair I spray it in afterwards and run my fingers through my hair. Now, this might not work for all of you because all of our hair is different. My hair holds a curl pretty easy, it does relax by the end of the day but I have always liked more of the wavy look. Not everyone will like this product, but I can tell you that if you have bangs that you like to have swept but playful this spray is for you. If you would like some let me know and I can hold some for you at the salon. I hope all of you have a great day!

Stripin' the Summer
The hot fashion trends of the summer are coming out. They are all so fun to wear and look great. One of the new trends that's hitting this summer look is striped clothes. Now, we have all been told to be careful with strips depending on our figures, and the thicker the strips on some people might not look as good as on some others.
Some fun ways to wear your strips this summer is in your skirts! Skirts are so appropriate for the summer fun and the pencil skirts are way cute with the strips. Another way to wear them, which by the way I love this look, is on your flowy blouses. The light flowy blouses are really nice to wear and are perfect for the hot sun in the summer. I personally love the blue strips are my favorite or the bright orangy color is way cute, or red. I love all of the fun colors of summer. Make sure you add some striped color to your summer.
If you prefer not to wear strips on your clothes add it to your accessories. There are some pretty cute head bands, and silk scarves I have seen that our striped. Oh, and there is always the lovely option of purses! I absolutely love purses. Striped purses are so cute and are way cute. There are all different types of them out there. So if you haven't done anything for yourself lately go out and buy yourself something. You deserve to treat yourself every once in awhile.

Secrets of Braiding
One look that has been back and keeps on growing is braiding. This look I love and always love to do when I am wanting to change up my hair style. There are so many different ways of braiding and how to wear them.
One of my favorite ways is to braid my bangs back when my hair is day old from washing. Braiding can be a little tricky at first, but it is true that practice makes perfect. Keep on practicing and it will become easier. Braids I feel are a pretty, earthy, casual style to have. Some secrets to braiding on their look is if you want a looser or the look of a thicker braid just pull it gently. What I mean by this is once you have your braid pull gently with fingers on both side of braid pulling at the same time on each loop. Pull as much as you want, this will give you the appearance of a thicker and bigger braid.
Another trick I do for whether your braiding your bangs back or all of your hair over whatever kind of braid you have I do this. Once your done braiding and you don't want your braid to fall out just tease it a bit. Take your comb and at the end of your braid push the hair up to the end of the braid, do this a couple of times. I guarantee that it will stay in if you tease it enough. I always do this and I don't have to worry about bobby pins or hair ties. If your braiding all of your hair over tease it then you can put a cut hair accessory at the end of it. Or sometimes what I do is I tease to hold the braid then tie it or pin it where I want to it to go then I will comb out the teasing. It's something that makes your life a little easier when doing your hair.
Have fun with the creative world of braiding, and be adventurous with different styles.

A Woman's Battling Quesion
Short hair verses long hair? This question runs through every woman's mind more than likely once or twice a year. There are pros and cons to every situation, but what it comes down too is what fits you and your personality.
Most women come to this debate when the seasons change from cold to hot, or from hot to hotter. Do we want are hair off our necks or do we just want to rock out the pony tail most of the summer? Some things to think about when debating are just like that question. How do you like to wear your hair? If you like to curl your hair a lot you probably want your hair not too short so you still can. Or if you like more of a style to your look I would recommend a short style.
With a short style you do have more a style to your everyday look. I'm talking about any bob haircuts and shorter. With these looks you normally have to straighten and add your products everyday to have what you want. There are simpler short styles to have than others. Most of the time the shorter the easier they are to do; for my clients I like to just add some texture twist to their hair after blow drying and work to where they like it.
Now, with longer hair you have more room to try new looks all the time. I have figured out a year ago that I love my long hair. I personally love to change up my look from day to day. I don't like to always look the same everyday. I also love to curl my hair and to have the wave look. Long hair girls get to explore around with braiding and different ways to where their hair. I would recommend long hair if you are adventurous and like styling your hair. I have finally decided that I will most likely have longer hair always for these reasons.
Find out who you are and what your personality says about you. Then I promise you will have better hair days in the future.

Color the Summer
Colors are so much fun to play around with, don't you think? Especially with spring and summer, there are tons of different colors that I love to bring out for these seasons. If you haven't caught on already try some fun bold colors for your nail polish.
Having a bold color on your toes and/or fingernails is one way to get some attention. Of course if you do both fingers and toes make sure they look good together. For me I feel prettier when my nails are done, and I feel a little bit more sassy. When I talk about nails I am meaning just your old fashion paint your nails at home, I love talking about colors. But I am more of a hair and make up kind of gal, I don't really know to much of the gels. Even though those look fabulous and you can also get fun colors in those too!
So anyways, my favorite color for nail polish right now is called mermaid tears. It's by OPI and I do love it, I have it on my toes. It's kind of a turquoise color, and it's bright and awesome is all I got to say. I am thinking of trying it on my fingers next.
Everyone, go out and get a fun new nail polish color for the season to show off. It will make your day a little brighter.

Messin' Around
Here's a fun style to do this season. The messy bun is easy to do when you have slept in or are just wanting your hair off your neck. It is rather simple to do and there are lots of different looks to it.
You first start off with a pony tail, you decided whether you want it on either side low, a low center ponytail. Now you can either pull your pony tail all the way through or just half way. This preference will probably determine on how thick or thin or hair is.
Then grab your bobby pins and start taking random pieces. When you take your pieces let them be loose and pin away. For the easiest bun is probably pulling your ponytail half way through and then taking some pieces and twisting them around your pony. The first time you will be figuring out what you like, but I promise you will love it.
You can either dress it up with a flower or other hair piece in your hair. Or dress it down by pulling out some pieces by the front of your ears. Have fun with this and see what works for you. Be adventurous this season by trying something new.

Lash Envy
Long gorgeous lashes, I believe we all want. Sometimes though it gets frustrating trying to keep them in their tip top shape. Have you ever thought of what you need to be doing to do to keep your lashes healthy?
Well, for about six or so months now I have been using a lash conditioner for mine. Using a conditioner for your lashes will help them so they won't fall out as much. I have also noticed that they have gotten longer as well as strong. The lash conditioner I use is from Jane Iredale Make up, which I love. It comes just like your mascara, and you apply it just the same too. I would say that there is no need to re-dip the wand, just take it out and apply it to the top lashes then the bottoms.
Some other helpful tips for your lashes is to make sure your not rubbing your eyes. I mean, I do it but it's not a good thing to do for your lashes. If you have to rub be gentle, especially when taking off make up. Rubbing roughly can cause them to fall out more.
Another tip is remove your eye make up at night!I know some people who don't remove their eye make up before going to bed. This is so bad for your skin and lashes. If you remove it and wash your face before crawling into bed not only will you feel better but your lashes and skin will thank you. Make sure you get all of your make up off too.
Did you know that leaving your mascara on or any make up through out the night will cause you to age more? I know we all want to avoid that as much as possible. Removing your mascara at night is just another way to help your lashes from falling out. If you have a problem getting all your make up off it might be time to try a new way of removing your make up. Jane Iredale has a mitt that will take off all make up even mascara. It is gentle on your eyes and skin, and all you do is wash off the make up when done. This will save you money and help you to become more earth friendly.
Take care of your lashes ladies, and let me know if you took some of my advice and how you liked it.
Thanks

An Extra Boost
If you have fine hair that has a hard time to get it to have body in it. I have found a product that I just love, and you must try if your wanting that extra volume in your hair.
Pureology has had a new "series" of products out called Color Stylist. The Silk Bodifier really helps with putting extra body in your hair. It's like a mouse but it's not the real sticky feeling like most of them are. Just put it in when your hair is wet. Depending how much hair you have is how much you use, but don't use to much. For myself I probably use the size of a plum or so. When applying start at your roots then run it through to your ends. I love the smell and when you blow dry, dry your roots first.
You will love it, I have been using it for just over a week now and I am addicted this new product. You can come in and get it at Me Salon, tell them that you heard it from me.
